Diploma in Mechanical Engineering – UNITEN

Student who has completed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), O-Level, IGCSE, UEC, or other equivalent qualifications recognised by Government of Malaysia. Keen interest in Engineering field of study. May complete education at Diploma level or may pursue any of these degree programmes with credit transfers:

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons)
  • Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Hons)
  • Bachelor of Electrical Power Engineering (Hons)
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons).

This syllabus has been designed to meet the requirements of professional bodies and industries while giving students the competitive edge. Emphasis is on the application of knowledge through teamwork, case studies, simulations and real life projects.

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering programme is designed to prepare you for professional career and to further your study to Bachelor Degree in the related engineering field. We adopt comprehensive and innovative content and teaching techniques, which are designed towards expanding the frontiers of learning and inculcating a probing mind.

You will be challenged to develop into multi-skilled professionals possessing mental, intellectual and emotional fortitude to succeed in life. The curricula, further enhanced with project work, lab experiments and practical training, are designed with inputs from reputable sources.

The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering programme consists of well-established balance between theory, experiments and hands-on practical training during the two and half-years of study. The curriculum consists of a good mix of general subjects as well as core engineering subjects.

91 credit hours of subjects are being taught in seven semesters. This Diploma in Mechanical Engineering programme can be completed in 2 ½ years.

This programme is delivered at the Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Putrajaya Campus.


Fees for International Students:
Tuition Fees: USD6,800 (RM27,200) per programme.
Other Fees:

  • VISA & Application Fee: USD787.50 (RM3,150) one-time payment
  • Full Registration + Miscellaneous Fee: USD1,650 (RM6,600) one-time payment
  • Medical Insurance: USD37.50 (RM150)/year
  • Resource Fee (Library, Student Activity & Service): USD390 (RM780) twice a year
  • Deposit for Accommodation: USD62.50 (RM250) one-time deposit payment
  • Monthly Fee for Accommodation: Starting from USD67.50 (RM270)/month.

and if the international student (for Diploma) does not fulfill the English language requirement such as minimum score for IELTS or TOEFL, there will be additional fees of:

  • Intensive English Programme (IEP) : USD1,400 (RM5,600)/semester.

Flexible payment options are available, where student may:

  • pay full in advance, or
  • by monthly installments, or
  • pay full 2 weeks before the semester’s final examination.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • O-Level
    Pass O-Level with minimum credits in 3 subjects inclusive of Mathematics and Credit in Physics / relevant science / technical / vocational subjects and Pass English.
  • IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education)
    Pass IGCSE with minimum credits in 3 subjects inclusive of Mathematics and Credit in Physics / relevant science / technical / vocational subjects and Pass English.

 

ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS
For International Students:

International students are required to have English one of the proficiency score stated below to enrol in UNITEN. Diploma students who do not fulfill this English requirement are required to sit for the Intensive English Programme (IEP) and pass the requirement below before starting their Diploma programme.

  • MUET – Malaysia University English Test
    Achieve Band 3
  • IELTS – International English Language Testing System
    Achieve 5.0
  • TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language
    Achieve 500 (TOEFL) or 42 (TOEFL Internet Based Test)
