Program Description
Unprecedented growth in the food service industry has created a demand for food service business leaders and managers. Thus the program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skill and ability to take up challenges in managing the diverse food service management activities.
In order to produce high-performing food service business leaders and managers, the curriculum focuses on every aspect of the food service business such as operations, revenue management, human resources, training, marketing, merchandising, and customer service. The program ensures graduates are equipped with skills and the know-how to increase customer satisfaction retain and motivate employees. Graduates also understand issues such as maximizing profit, forecasting the market, protecting assets besides assuring food quality, and understanding nutrition and food science.
This program meets the requirement or standard set by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), “Program Standard: Hospitality and Tourism”, as well as meets the university’s philosophy in general and the departmental objectives of the faculty in particular. It is also structured to be more in line with current needs and applies the latest methods of learning online through “blended learning” for some appropriate courses. Improvement of the existing curriculum has been done based on the feedback of stakeholders such as industry, universities/colleges, and UiTM’s Alumni.
The curriculum offers a balance between knowledge and practical application to ensure that students are well equipped with the knowledge and hands-on experience, hence able to obtain immediate employment in the hospitality industry upon graduation. In addition, the industrial training programme will provide students with valuable experience, which will assist them in their career planning as well as full-time job opportunities. Through its strong curriculum design that involves participation from the industry and various stakeholders, students will have exciting career opportunities in management, supervisory and administrative positions in the hotel industry.

Entry Requirement
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Have received a National Higher School Certificate (or an A Level or the equivalent of 12 years of primary education) with the minimum grade of 80% and above, OR Have obtained a Diploma from recognized Institutions with at least a CGPA of 3.00; AND Have fulfilled specific entrance requirements for some programs, particularly in the sciences field.
