Program Description
The Department of Counsellor Education and Counselling Psychology (DCECP) is one of the six departments in the Faculty of Educational Studies. It was established as a Unit of Guidance and Counselling in the Department of Education (1979-2002). In the following years (Jun 2002-April 2004), the Unit was under the Department of Behavioural and Human Development. On May 1st, 2004 the Unit was raised to the status of a department under the Faculty of Educational Studies. The department strives toward excellence in teaching, research, consultation and extension in guidance and counselling. The Bachelor of Education (Guidance and Counselling) was a pioneering programme in Malaysia offered by the faculty since 1981.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Have received a National Higher School Certificate (or an A Level or the equivalent of 12 years of primary education) with the minimum grade of 80% and above, OR Have obtained a Diploma from recognized Institutions with at least a CGPA of 3.00; AND Have fulfilled specific entrance requirements for some programmes, particularly in the sciences field.
